YouTube for Nonprofits

In my previous post, I talked about how it isn’t such a far fetched idea to see your ministry on TV.  I wander how many church techies are aware of YouTube’s nonprofit program?  The church has the most compelling story of all to tell and this is a great and effective way to do it.

Some of the highlights include:

  • Premium branding capabilities and increased uploading capacity
  • Rotation of your videos in the “Promoted Videos” areas throughout the site
  • The option to drive fundraising through a Google Checkout “Donate” button

You can watch the following YouTube video to get an overview as well.

Has anyone out there reading this tried it out?  I’d definately be interested in hearing your comments.

Just because churches CAN be on TV (or YouTube) doesn't mean they should. A $500 camcorder and flourescent lights with bad audio from the camcorder does not a good video make. ;)

Still, compelling content (planned, edited, etc.) can be leveraged by churches (and should).

I love excellence as much as the next media director, but frankly sometimes things are worth being done poorly. Maybe not on purpose, but if there's a message that's got to get out and you can do it well enough for people to get the point, I wouldn't cop out and say... sorry people will think I'm a loser for using poor video, less than desirable lighting, etc.

I'm a huge fan of using YouTube. The more Christ-followers share their excellent message the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Durand.
